The Quantifiable Power of Women Bloggers

US Female Blog Readers and Publishers, March 2009 (% of respondents and millions*)

eMarketer reported today from March 2009 data from BlogHer, iVillage, and Compass Partners that an estimated 8 million women in the US publish a blog.   These are powerful numbers, and continues to reinforce the need for marketers looking to reach this influential segment to create and execute strategies and tactics to engage with this group, and the many other women they touch.   It is the ultimate women "one to many" marketing.  Additionally for marketers, it is critical that someone within their organization or an outsourced resource own these activities.   Good news for companies, there are now many very skilled and experienced outsourced agencies & consultants that can help drive their social media marketing.   Personally, given my background and experience in online retailing, I hope that we will begin to see more of these organizations really harness and leverage the power of social media.   At least the companies that I work with personally (and you know who you are!), be ready for this women to get on my "soapbox".
