Interesting eMarketer Article on Integrating Social Media and eMail

Extremely interesting article today from eMarketer on the latest trends in how companies are planning to increase their budgets in these areas in 2010, and also as important how companies are now integrating their email marketing and social media tactics to improve results.

In summary the "2010 Marketing Trends Survey" from StrongMail showed that 69% of respondents will increase budgets in email, and 59% indicated they will increase budgets in social media. For those of us who are long time marketers in this space, the changing trends are astounding. In short, companies are looking for more efficient and integrated ways to get in front of their target constituents.

From a results perspective, although 42% of executives reported an improvement in email campaign performance after integrating these efforts, another 35% reported no change. What does all this mean? It is all in the execution! It is critical for marketing executives to ensure the tactics are sound, the goal metrics are clear, and they are executed with perfection. Additionally it goes unsaid (but I will say it anyway), make sure you have the right internal team or the right external agency working on these now very important marketing tactics.

Enjoy.
