Social Media Gaining Momentum
Social Media sites like Facebook and Twitter are popular among teens –no doubts about that! But, these sites are gaining momentum across generations of Americans. In fact, more internet users are subscribing to sites such as Facebook and Twitter at an alarming rate and taking up more of their internet-time too.
Facebook Used to Broaden Customer Base
There’s an app for almost anything these days. From making check deposits with Quick Deposit from Chase Bank to finding the closest sushi restaurant when travelling to an unfamiliar city. New technological advancements are happening every day and enhancing how we do business and conduct our daily lives.
Future of Technology & Social Media in Education
Social Media plays a huge part of teens' and tweens' lives but can it be integrated into classrooms and be a functional part of students' education? A friend that teaches Earth Science in a NYC inner city school advised me that it already is! Teachers tweet classroom assignments all the time and share Google docs (documents) with other teachers to create a more cohesive and supportive work environment. Pure genius, in my opinion! A cousin that resides in NYC attends the prestigious, Packer Collegiate Institute where he faithfully totes his laptop to every class.
Tragic Loss of Cell Phone
In today’s fast paced world, the loss of a cell phone can be downright tragic! From accidently leaving your cell phone in a restaurant to having your husband leave it in his pocket and toss his jeans into the laundry bin without taking the cell phone out (Yes, Jason, I mean you!), the loss of a cell phone with all your data and business contacts is one nightmare I hope no one has to go through!
Colorforecaster Promotes EditorsCloset.com & IvoryTrunk.com for Big Couch Media Group
As a young textile designer starting out in the Fashion Industry, my aspirations were to become the youngest color, trend and fabric forecaster the industry had ever encountered. Working hard and loving what I was doing paid off in spades. After I had reached my career goals faster than expected, and worked for top designers like Kay Unger, Baudruche Design Studio, the Mohair Council of America, and Nordstrom as well a host of freelance trend forecasting for accessories designers, my priorities shifted to starting a family and writing.
Mapping Social Media
Firm Flowtown took XKCD authors’ map of online communities and turned it into the, “2010 Social Media Networking Map” complete with their Land of Defunct Social Networks and Empire of Google. This humourous take on the magnitude of Social Media today really puts into perspective the number of social media members . Using real-time date from 2010, Flowtown’s map is fun and awe inspiring.
